Women Empowerment
1. STRENGTHENING CAPACITIES AND LEADERSHIP OF ELECTEDWOMEN REPRESENTATIVES
To strengthen the capacities of elected women representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, a project titled “Strengthening Capacity and Leadership of Elected Women Representatives” is being implemented in 15 Grampanchayats of Tarbha Block under Subarnapur District since August 2017 with the support from “The Hunger Project India”. With the objective to create a gender sensitive Panchyati Raj Institution and build the leadership skill of newly elected women leaders to understand their role and responsibilities to carry out the work effectively.
Due to this programme profiling of 112 EWRs from 15 Gram Panchayats prepared and built their capacity as per the need assessment
89 EWRs from different Gram Panchayats and Block official were aware about the programme which has provided a scope for them to take decision independently for the developmental activities of the areas.
50 elected women representatives attended the Gender Based violence workshop as a result they could make counsel in their community to make their areas violence free. It has seems that both the boys and girls from each family are attending school and college as per their intelligence.
1224 villagers i.e. 149 male 727 female, 83 Boys and 265 Girls aware on different aspect of domestic violence, so the reporting of cases to EWRs is quite visible.
29 EWRs participated in the interface with Dist. Administration and discussed about the women protection, different Govt. schemes like- Mamata Yojna, Labour card, ICDS etc also discussed about the various problems in the rural area regarding education, health and communication so 30% of raised problem resolved within a month.
19 EWRs visited DAPTA organization at Kalahandi to knowledge sharing discussion on Cluser meeting and GPRC. After the exposure the EWRs had expeditetheir issue identification & resolution process.
2 GPRC set up and functioning at Charbhata and Dubula. All information, forms, and books on different schemes, yojna, and Acts are available for general people. Due to that the people having less to Block got an opportunity for application at their probable scheme.
“Ahinsa Ratha” – A decorated vehicle moved to raise awareness in 15 GP where the General Public got an opportunity to get information on violence against women and its law.

Through the District level convention 103 participants i.e. EWRs, Students, Guest and Govt. Official and aware on PCPNDT Act and Property rights of
Women which impacted to check illegal abortion. The EWRs have a clear understanding regarding the various committee and financial flow system to Gram Panchayat by the Government.
As a sole responsibility when the COVID 19 1st wave the EWRs has resolved so many challenging instances of their respective areas. They had taken personal interest where the returnee migrant and stranded migrant will have no problem.
During the ration kit distribution to 312 families in the project operational area the EWRs had closely extended their support and cooperation for smooth management of the distribution programme.
We believe that the women power can make impossible to possible and create a friendly environment for society.
